About
Established by Daniel J Edelman in Chicago in 1952, Edelman has expanded over the ensuing years to become the largest family-owned PR and Communications agency in the world. Its London offices opened in 1967 and are now home to the business’ leading Crisis & Risk team, of which its Legal Affairs specialists form a central part. Our global reach and market-specific knowledge and insights enable us to support international clients and law firms wherever they operate.
Crises and reputational threats can no longer be seen as isolated incidents happening at specific moments in time, particularly where legal risk is involved. Frequent and disruptive events are the new norm, regularly incorporating multiple legal, political and reputational challenges which cannot be addressed in isolation. Businesses, brands and their stakeholders now have to address these constantly changing new dynamics outside, as well as within, the court room
Throughout the past year our UK Legal Affairs team has supported clients, in close coordination with their legal counsel, on some of the largest and most significant litigations, complex legal issues, regulatory investigations, cyber incidents, and employment claims. This includes industry-first class-action proceedings, leading climate-based litigations, and financial disputes at the heart of the war in Ukraine.
Edelman’s interdisciplinary UK team includes attorneys and solicitors, public affairs specialists, and investigative journalists, all of whom deliver actionable insights and robust strategies tailored to clients’ and law firms’ needs. Forming part of the biggest Crisis & Risk team in the industry, our Legal Affairs experts cover a broad range of specialisms including Information Manipulation, Brand Protection, Litigation, Data Security & Privacy, Cyber, Regulatory Investigations, Business Intelligence and NGO activism. With team members across the US, EMEA, APAC and Lat Am regions, the Legal Affairs specialists in Edelman’s UK Crisis & Risk team are connected 24/7 providing global perspectives and always on strategic advice.
Those specialists service leading global organisations across highly regulated and reputation-sensitive sectors such as financial services, energy, automotive, technology, healthcare, and professional services. Our clients often operate at global scale and face intense scrutiny – and litigation – from across their stakeholder landscape. Our core support includes strategic reputation management, narrative and communications development mapped to litigation milestones, stakeholder analysis and engagement, media training, and real-time media monitoring. By embedding communications expertise directly into the legal process, Edelman helps clients and law firms address both public-facing and internal client challenges.
Edelman’s Crisis team is a world leader in its implementation of AI tools, to enable our specialists to provide clients with the best advice more quickly, and with greater contextual awareness.
Our in-house data specialists also provide insights on litigation participants, allowing us to anticipate, prepare for and respond to likely strategies which may affect our clients’ reputations outside the court room. All of our support on legal matters is informed by our data-led insights, founded in the Edelman Trust Barometer, which guides our advisory to clients and their legal advisors on matters most to their critical stakeholders.
