Mohammad Khair Al-Sabbagh, Managing Partner
Mohammad Khair AlSabbagh explains how AlKhair Legal Attorneys continues to evolve as a dynamic, business-driven law firm, combining deep local expertise with international standards to support clients across complex commercial, corporate, and regulatory landscapes.
What do you see as the main points that differentiate Al Khair Legal Attorneys from your competitors?
We combine high-level legal expertise with a deeply engaged, partner-led approach to client relationships. We are a relatively lean firm by design, which allows our clients to work directly with senior lawyers who remain closely involved in strategy, negotiations, and decision-making throughout the lifecycle of a matter. This level of engagement allows us to understand our clients’ businesses in detail and provide advice that is both legally robust and commercially practical.
Another key distinction is our ability to bridge international legal standards with the realities of operating in Jordan. Our team includes lawyers with international exposure and practitioners qualified in England & Wales alongside Jordanian advocates, enabling us to assist multinational clients and regional investors who require advice that aligns with global expectations while remaining firmly grounded in the local legal framework.
A good illustration of this approach is our work with a client in the tourism sector. We were initially engaged to advise what was then a small entrepreneurial venture. As the business expanded, our role evolved into that of a long-term strategic legal advisor, supporting the company across corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, commercial contracting, and dispute management in more than 16 jurisdiction. Today, the same company manages annual transactions exceeding USD 250 million, and we continue to advise on its operations, legal relationships, and strategic legal planning.
What also sets us apart is the breadth of experience across both transactional and contentious matters. Our lawyers collectively bring over 40 years of legal experience, and we regularly advise on high-value transactions, complex cross-border structuring, and disputes of significant commercial and national importance. We have represented clients in litigation involving claims exceeding JOD 87 million, while also advising on strategic corporate transactions and acquisitions for leading companies in Jordan.
In addition, our firm is frequently involved in regulatory and legislative advisory work, including projects related to governmental reforms and policy analysis. This exposure provides us with early insight into regulatory developments and allows us to guide clients through evolving legal frameworks with clarity and confidence.
Ultimately, what distinguishes our firm is our ability to combine strategic insight, international perspective, and deep knowledge of the Jordanian legal environment, enabling us to act not simply as legal advisors, but as trusted long-term partners to our clients.
Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?
Over the next 12 months, we anticipate notable growth in technology-related legal work, particularly in IT, data protection, and cybersecurity. This trend is largely driven by the rapid evolution of the regulatory and legislative landscape in Jordan, including the implementation of new data protection frameworks and increased regulatory oversight of digital activities. As businesses accelerate their digital transformation, legal questions surrounding data governance, cybersecurity compliance, and technology-related risk management are becoming increasingly central.
We also expect continued expansion in corporate, investment, and cross-border transactional work. Jordan continues to attract interest from international investors and regional businesses exploring market entry, partnerships, and strategic restructuring. This naturally drives demand for legal advice that is firmly grounded in the Jordanian regulatory framework while also responsive to international legal standards and cross-border considerations.
Another important area of growth is regulatory compliance and sector-specific advisory, particularly in emerging and regulated sectors such as financial services, fintech, energy, and technology. As regulatory frameworks continue to evolve, companies require legal advisors who can provide practical and forward-looking guidance on navigating complex regulatory obligations while maintaining operational efficiency.
We are also seeing increasing interest in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, as businesses seek efficient and commercially practical ways to resolve disputes. This reflects a broader shift in the market toward dispute resolution processes that offer greater flexibility, confidentiality, and speed compared to traditional litigation.
More broadly, a key driver behind these trends is the changing expectations clients have of their legal advisors. Clients are increasingly seeking advisors who can provide strategic, business-oriented guidance rather than purely technical legal opinions. In a more complex and regulated business environment, clients value legal counsel that helps them manage risk, adapt to regulatory developments, and pursue sustainable growth.
For firms like Al Khair Legal Attorneys, this shift reinforces the importance of combining legal precision with practical commercial insight when advising clients across evolving sectors and markets. We continue to invest in talent, technology, and training to ensure we remain at the forefront of delivering business-focused legal solutions that support our clients’ ambitions in an increasingly complex global environment.
What's the main change you've made in the firm that will benefit clients?
One of the changes we have implemented at Al Khair Legal Attorneys has been the strengthening of our integrated service delivery model, ensuring that clients receive consistent, efficient, and well-coordinated support across the full lifecycle of their legal matters.
In recent years, we have refined our internal systems, workflows, and knowledge management processes to improve collaboration within the firm and ensure that client work is handled with greater efficiency and consistency. Whether advising on corporate and regulatory matters, cross-border transactions, or complex disputes, these improvements enable our teams to respond more quickly and deliver advice that is both precise and practical.
A key element of this development has been the enhancement of our cross-border advisory capabilities. As many of our clients operate internationally, we have strengthened our ability to provide legal support that bridges local regulatory requirements with international legal standards. The expansion of our team, including lawyers with multi-jurisdictional experience and practitioners qualified in England & Wales, Canda alongside Jordanian advocates, allows us to approach matters from both a regional and international perspective.
We have also placed significant emphasis on building a service model that is accessible, responsive, and business-oriented. This means clearer communication, stronger coordination across practice areas, and legal advice that takes into account the broader commercial context in which our clients operate.
At the same time, we continue to invest in talent development and internal training, ensuring that our lawyers are equipped to approach matters not only from a legal standpoint but also with a strong understanding of business and sector dynamics.
Ultimately, these changes are designed to ensure that our clients benefit from high-quality legal advice delivered efficiently, with strategic insight and a strong understanding of the increasingly complex environments in which they operate.
Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?
Yes, technology is increasingly shaping the way we interact with clients and deliver legal services. Over the past few years, we have integrated a range of digital tools that enhance efficiency, improve communication, and allow us to respond to client needs more quickly and effectively.
At Al Khair Legal Attorneys, technology supports many aspects of our day-to-day work. This includes secure digital communication platforms, advanced document management systems, virtual meeting solutions, and electronic signature tools, all of which help streamline collaboration with clients and facilitate the efficient handling of matters across different jurisdictions. These tools allow clients to receive updates, exchange documents, and engage with our teams in a more seamless and timely manner.
Technology has also enhanced our internal legal research, document review, and knowledge management processes. By leveraging modern legal technology tools, our lawyers can access information more efficiently and manage large volumes of documentation with greater accuracy. This ultimately allows us to provide faster turnaround times while maintaining the high standard of legal analysis our clients expect.
However, we view technology as an enabler rather than a substitute for professional judgment and client relationships. The core of legal practice remains built on trust, strategic insight, and direct engagement with clients. While digital tools improve efficiency and accessibility, the value we bring to clients continues to lie in our ability to apply legal expertise, experience, and commercial understanding to complex situations.
Ultimately, technology allows us to enhance responsiveness, improve collaboration, and deliver services more efficiently, while preserving the personal and strategic elements that clients expect from their legal advisors.
Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?
A strong example of our value is our work with a client in the tourism sector. We were initially engaged to advise a small entrepreneurial venture. As the business expanded, our role evolved into that of a long-term strategic legal advisor, supporting corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, and disputes. Today, the company manages annual transactions exceeding USD 250 million, and we continue to support its operations and legal strategy.
In another matter of significant national importance, we represented a client in complex litigation connected to a major national project involving governmental institutions. The dispute involved claims exceeding JOD 87 million, and through a carefully structured legal strategy and extensive litigation work, we successfully secured a favourable decision for our client, protecting their commercial interests in a highly sensitive and high-value dispute.
We have also supported clients in major transactional matters, including advising a leading company in Jordan on a strategic acquisition. Our team conducted comprehensive legal due diligence across the company’s corporate, contractual, and regulatory documentation, and subsequently drafted and negotiated the Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) and Shareholders’ Agreement (SHA) to ensure the transaction structure fully protected our client’s interests.
These examples reflect our broader philosophy: our role is not only to identify legal risks, but to translate legal insight into practical strategies that create tangible value for our clients’ businesses.
Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms - where do you see the firm in three years’ time?
Yes, very much so. Clients are increasingly looking for lawyers who can provide consistency, sound judgment, and perspective over time, particularly in a market where regulation and priorities continue to evolve.
Over the next three years, I would like to see the firm further established as a reliable advisor to businesses operating in Jordan and to international clients entering the market. A key priority for me is continuing to strengthen relationships beyond Jordan while ensuring that our advice remains firmly grounded in the realities of doing business here.
Our ambition is not simply to grow in size, but to grow in a way that is deliberate and relationship driven. We want to remain a firm that clients rely on at important stages of their development, while also contributing in a practical way to the continued strengthening of governance, legal practice, and the business environment in Jordan.
