Career
Nick is the leader of our Debt Capital Markets team. He has 26 years’ experience acting for Australian and international financiers and borrowers in corporate finance, acquisition finance, real estate and construction finance, and general finance across a range of sectors including financial services, property and construction, manufacturing, health, aviation, logistics, social and affordable housing, transport, mining, and technology.
Prior to joining Kain, Nick gained significant experience in top tier firms in Sydney and London. In addition to private practice, Nick has first rate in-house experience, having been the sole Australian legal counsel for three years at Fortress Investment Group (an asset-based investment management fund) as well as having completed multiple secondments at a major Australian bank and at a niche financial services provider to global private equity and hedge fund managers.
Nick’s recent experience includes:
Advising Qualitas Group on multiple bilateral and syndicated construction, land acquisition, and residual stock finance facilities across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland with deal values between $270 million and $30 million; Advising MaxCap Group on multiple syndicated construction and land acquisition facilities across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland with deal values between $80 million and $20 million; Advising Centuria Bass on multiple syndicated construction, land acquisition and residual stock finance facilities across New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia with deal values between $150 million and $20 million; Advising MA Financial on residual stock and construction facilities in New South Wales with deal values between $60 million and $16 million; Advising Alceon on a land acquisition facility with a deal value of $20 million; Advising Arrowpoint Capital in connection with multiple corporate acquisition finance facilities across Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australian across multiple asset classes with deal values between $20 million and $5 million; Advising Rixon Capital in connection with asset backed acquisition loans across various asset classes including financial services and shipping services with deal values between $20 million and $10 million; Advising Causeway in connection with acquisition facilities relating to businesses and assets in New South Wales across the financial services and healthcare sectors with average deal size of $10 million; Advising Bricktop in connection with various land acquisition and construction facilities in New South Wales; Advising property developers in connection with various land acquisition, construction and acquisition facilities from financiers including PAG, Metrics, MA Financial, Monark, Australian domestic banks and international banks; and Advising Tier 1 and Tier 2 Community Housing Providers in connection with financing from Housing Australia.Languages
