Bridget is a Senior Associate at Koranteng and Koranteng Legal Advisors and has experience in providing expert legal advisory services in the fields of energy, mining and corporate and commercial law.
Energy
Bridget’s expertise in energy encompasses both traditional and renewable energy sectors. She has led her team of associates in advising the Government of Ghana in the Restructuring and Renegotiating of several Independent Power Purchase Agreements(“IPPAs”). The firm is the sole local counsel for this transaction.
On this Renegotiating project, Bridget performs a key role in advising the Government on crucial documentation involved in the project by highlighting local, legal and commercial challenges associated with each project. Specifically, she has advised on certain condition precedents required for the successful renegotiating of the projects. Responsibility for conditions precedent not being clearly spelt out has been a challenge in some of the IPPAs, she advised on the key condition precedents through the entirety of the project. She has reviewed and presented contractual analysis for both operational IPPAs between stakeholders in the energy industry in light of the relevant industry laws and regulations.
Bridget has led her team to advise on an-ongoing Arrears Restructuring for Independent Power Producers which has become necessary for the country’s recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) Debt programme. Specifically, she worked with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy, Electricity Company of Ghana and other Government agencies on all relevant documents and contracts in negotiations with Independent Power Producers to restructure existing debt agreements. This involved negotiating new terms, interest rates, repayment schedules and review of government guarantee agreements.
The successful restructuring and renegotiating of these Independent Power Purchase Agreements will save the Government of Ghana upwards of $ 1.3 billion. Below are some news articles showing the significance of the transaction.

She has also provided advise to the firm’s client on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract ensuring that the terms are clear, enforceable and aligned with project goals.
Currently, Bridget is a member of the Board of Directors of a renewable energy company that focuses on eliminating energy poverty and climate change with projects and technology that benefit vulnerable and climate risks.
Mining
Bridget has a keen interest in Mining and has an LLM in Natural Resources from the Graduate School of the University of Ghana with a focus on the legal facets of mineral extraction and its use in the country.
She has advised the firm’s clients on regulatory compliance, exploration and development agreements. She has worked with her team in providing transactional advice to one of the firm’s clients, a gold mining company in Ghana wishing to raise $2,000,000 via a private placement for its exploration activities and on its listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange. The client is registered to carry out mineral exploration amongst other activities. The client intends to commence exploration work with its four prospecting licenses and reconnaissance license on lands located near Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana and intends to use the seed capital raised to commence the exploration programme.
Company Secretarial
Bridget provides advice and training to businesses on corporate governance, commercial contracts, and data protection.
She represents the firm as a company secretary to a company that has been set up to manage health infrastructure challenges in Ghana. Currently, the Company has been tasked with the construction of 111 district and regional hospitals across the country.
In her current role as the company’s secretary, Bridget:

Bridget also leads her team to provide advisory services to the firm’s clients on data protection registration and policies. She has reviewed the internal and external data policies for companies and provided advise on the registration process of registering with the Data Protection Commission (Ghana). Specifically, she has advised a top security company on data protection and privacy matters. In this role, Bridget:

In this article Bridget explored the new realm of mining for minerals in the deep sea, including regulatory challenges, environmental impacts and the need for international cooperation to manage ocean mineral resources. The article was also published by Mondaq (a leading global provider of content marketing and data for professional services) on its energy and natural resources section.
Webinars and Speaking Engagements
Bridget hosted a webinar on “integrating ESG Strategies into Business Operations in Ghana” The webinar focused on discovering how Environmental, Social and Governance practices can reshape businesses for a sustainable future.
She also hosted a webinar on “the readiness of SMEs for the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA)”. The webinar focused on the potential of the AFCFTA to create one of the largest free trade markets in the world and the opportunities available for SMEs in Ghana to expand their businesses. Among other benefits, the webi
nar also outlined how SMEs can strategically position themselves through the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to attract foreign direct investment to boost production for the export market taking advantage of the AfCFTA.
Bridget also spoke on the Legal and Ethical issues for Stakeholders in the Beauty Industry. She engaged her audience on regulatory frameworks and available business arrangement for entrepreneurs in the beauty industry as well as empowering the beauty community with the knowledge of the advantages that come with following legal processes and procedures when setting up and operating their businesses and the ethical issues to consider in the beauty industry.
