Álvaro Abad

Álvaro Abad is specialized in pharmaceutical and healthcare law. He advises pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medtech companies on legal matters related to medicinal products and medical devices, ranging from research and market access, to promotion and compliance issues, public procurement, or disputes within Farmaindustria, Fenin, and Autocontrol. In recent years, Álvaro has been very actively involved in the market launch of various gene and cell therapies. Álvaro is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Dravet Syndrome Foundation and of the Ethics Committee of the Dravet Syndrome Biobank.

Fernando is the Head of the Madrid Regulatory practice and, as of January 1st, serves as the Office Managing Partner. He coordinates and leads a multidisciplinary team, bringing a wealth of experience in regulatory, contentious, and corporate matters within Public and Administrative Law, as well as in the private sector. A State Lawyer (Abogado del Estado) currently on leave of absence, Fernando joined Hogan Lovells after serving as Head of the Regulatory Practice at PwC Tax & Legal. During his tenure at PwC, he specialized in three key areas: Regulatory, M&A, and Litigation & Arbitration.

Based in Alicante, Spain, the home of the European Union Intellectual Property Office, Imogen advises clients in multiple European languages and has extensive experience in successfully navigating clients through the differences in intellectual property laws across the Europe region.

Burkhart Goebel

Burkhart Goebel helps clients navigate the challenging seas of complex cross-border and multiple jurisdiction IP litigation. In his 20 years of experience, he has pleaded or acted as instructing counsel before senior courts in almost every jurisdiction in Europe, handling some of the largest multiple jurisdiction disputes in the history of IP litigation. He constantly draws on the experience and insights gained from these different jurisdictions to make each case a success. He knows how to avoid surprises – he’s seen where the pitfalls lie and guides clients around them. Rare among IP litigators, Burkhart has particular expertise in IP-related public international law. Working closely with offices from Spain to Russia adds to his deep understanding of a wide range of legal issues and jurisdictions.
