José Manuel Bustamante

José Manuel has a vast experience and recognition in the Chilean legal market. He has acted as counsel for multiple companies in antitrust matters, litigation and arbitration in the most diverse markets, including the dairy industry, salmon, energy, mining, construction and infrastructure, telecommunications, retail, consumer, medical supplies, supermarkets, cement and steel, among others. He has also represented public companies and industry associations in litigation matters. His activity includes international arbitration, where he has participated in proceedings subject to ICC rules. In addition to his activity in investigations before the National Economic Prosecutor's Office, proceedings before the Court for the Defense of Free Competition and control of concentration operations, Bustamante has a recognized leadership in antitrust compliance matters, having pioneered the development of prevention programs for companies in Chile 20 years ago.
Arturo Garza Mátar

Arturo Garza Mátar

Arturo Garza is a partner in the Tax practice. He has solid experience in legal and tax advisory services and, most notably, has acted as General Counsel of a leading Mexican company in the oil and gas industry. He has advised some of Mexico’s highest net worth families on wealth planning and succession matters, both in Mexico and abroad. In the tax area, he has helped successfully defend several multinational companies against tax claims in the millions, managing either to reduce the tax contingency significantly or to have it nullified. Arturo has participated in complex tax advisory projects, such as the acquisition of a Mexican food group by a German company, focusing on the tax treatment of non-competition undertakings. He also advised a Spanish airline on the tax treatment and refund of indirect taxes in Mexico. He led the defense against a tax claim in excess of Mex$200 million, successfully obtaining its annulment. His experience includes preparing requests for constitutional protection against tax reforms, having obtained numerous favorable rulings benefiting his clients. Arturo is fluent in English and Spanish.
Miguel Ángel López Mateo

Miguel Ángel López Mateo

Miguel Ángel López Mateo is co-head of the Agribusiness area of Garrigues since the creation of the practice by the firm. As global co-director, he coordinates the food & drinks activity of all our national and international offices. He has wide experience in M&A, leading teams in Spain, Portugal and in several Latam countries where he has advised a large number of transactions for the acquisition and for the divestment of companies and assets (such as farmland, warehouses, bottling plants, etc), carve-outs, LBOs and MBOs. He usually works with national and international PE funds, advising private equity investors from the pre-investment stages of the projects, during the build-up, restructuring add-ons and portfolios and in all sort of exits, including secondary buy-outs. Advising the day-to-day management of food companies, Miguel Ángel is one of the most reputed experts in areas such as Food Chain laws, and the reference advisor of national associations and federations such as FEPEX. He is equity partner since 2018. Miguel Ángel studied at Universidad de Murcia, at University of London (PGC) and at UC Berkeley (LLM, with High Honors, being awarded "Best Oral Argument").

David Sanz Pérez

David Sanz is a partner in Garrigues' Administrative Law Department and is responsible for environmental law matters in the Barcelona office. He has extensive experience in providing legal advice to companies and Public Administrations on public procurement, the environment and regulated sectors. In addition to the lines of work described above, he also provides general advice on administrative law (disciplinary proceedings, contentious-administrative proceedings, expropriations, public domain and special properties, etc.). He holds a degree in Law from the University of Barcelona, a PhD in Administrative Law and has been recognised as a researcher (cum laude). Professor at the University of Barcelona since 1995 and author of several publications in his area of specialisation. He lectures at various university institutions and participates as a speaker at conferences, seminars, master's and postgraduate courses in his speciality. He also takes part in research projects promoted by the Department of Administrative Law at the University of Barcelona.

Rodrigo Riquelme Yañez

Rodrigo Riquelme is a partner in the Public Law practice of Garrigues' Chile office. With 20 years of experience, he has a recognized practice in construction and infrastructure matters, with a special focus on disputes, covering both public and private law. Specialist in arbitration and litigation related to concessions, construction and infrastructure, participating in proceedings before the CAM Santiago, ICC, as well as in special instances such as the Concessions Technical Panel, the Constitutional Court and the Arbitration Commissions of the Public Works Concessions Law, among others.
Jose Ramón Tenor

Jose Ramón Tenor

José Ramón is a partner in the Corporate/Commercial Law Department at the Seville office. He co-manages Agribusiness and Food at Garrigues. He practices in the areas of corporate/commercial law, mainly in connection with M&A, commercial contracts in general and company and corporate law. He specializes in corporate law. He has participated in negotiating and formalizing agreements recording the sale and purchase, merger and integration of companies, shareholder agreements and protocols, joint venture, investment and divestment agreements, managing due diligence teams, coordinating with respect to financing for acquisitions. He is secretary to the board of directors and governing boards at several companies.
