Main areas of practice
Corporate M&A: BUREN’s corporate/M&A team advises clients on all aspects of their corporate requirements, including corporate restructurings, company law, corporate governance, company secretarial matters and compliance. Its integrated, multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in M&A, tax, notarial, financial and capital markets, and executive compensation, providing the resources and insight needed to structure and execute complex transactions effectively. BUREN’s multi-jurisdictional footprint and international network ensure seamless and efficient support on cross-border aspects.
Tax: BUREN’s tax group covers all aspects of tax law applicable in the Netherlands and Luxembourg, including all international tax issues. Fully integrated across the firm’s other practice groups, the team focuses on corporate transactions, including M&A and intragroup reorganisations, investment fund structuring, and employment & benefits-related matters.
Dispute resolution: BUREN’s litigation and dispute resolution team has extensive experience across a broad range of complex commercial disputes. The team handles matters at all court levels in the Benelux, including the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal, and regularly acts as part of cross-border litigation teams in international proceedings. In addition, the team has considerable experience in international arbitration, including proceedings before the Netherlands Arbitration Institute, the ICC, the SIAC and in ad hoc arbitration.
Employment and benefits: BUREN’s employment & benefits team advises on the full range of complex employment matters, including litigation and dispute resolution. The team has particular expertise in (European) works councils and trade union matters, dismissals, reorganisations, and the employment aspects of corporate transactions. Further areas of focus include Collective Labour Agreements (CAOs), flexible and temporary employment arrangements, agency and contractor arrangements, secondment, executive and boardroom matters, and corporate governance.
Banking and finance: BUREN’s banking and finance team provides assistance to its clients on a broad range of financing arrangements, acting for lenders or borrowers, including acquisition and leveraged finance, project finance, real estate finance, general banking and capital markets. BUREN furthermore advises financial institutions on their activities in the Netherlands with respect to licence requirements and ongoing compliance with these requirements.
Real estate: BUREN’s Real Estate team has extensive experience across the full spectrum of real estate work, including development, redevelopment, construction, financing, purchase and lease. The team’s multilingual professionals are well equipped to advise international clients on cross-border transactions and investments. In addition, the team is known nationally for its specialist expertise in foreclosure auctions of real estate. BUREN advises developers, investors, contractors, financial institutions and end users on their real estate matters in the Netherlands.
Restructuring and insolvency: BUREN’s restructuring & insolvency team includes a large number of specialists in restructuring, financing, refinancing, insolvency and liability.
