The practice advised Mediapro on the sale of IP and licensing rights for the broadcasting of La Liga and Champions League matches to Orange and Vodafone, internationally and domestically, respectively. Javier Lopez, who is ‘an outstanding professional’, leads the team with recent arrival Jordi Pujante from Roca Junyent, who ‘provides sound advice’. The addition of Rafael Azpitarte from legacy firm Azpitarte Abogados further strengthens the group's litigation, commercial and banking credentials. The practice is representing holiday rentals company Homeaway in a Supreme Court appeal against a sanction imposed by the Valencian Tourism Agency for alleged breach of regulations on tourist accommodation.
ECIJA integrated Azpitarte Abogados, including José Ignacio Azpitarte and Rafael Azpitarte, in early 2018. Using its strong TMT expertise, the corporate group assisted Beta Film with the acquisition of a controlling stake in a leading Spanish production company. Emilio Prieto and Gabriel Nadal lead the team.
