Simona Haláková

Simona is a head of banking & finance regulatory practice and regularly assists to financial services clients active in the fields of banking, finance, trading with derivatives and securities, payment services, collective investment, insurance & reinsurance, etc. Simona is instrumental in advising clients from energy and network industries sector, including areas of nuclear power sector and renewables and leads projects in the area of exploration and production of oil and gas. Simona has gained significant experience in the area of M&A while serving international and domestic undertakings active in banking, telecommunications,  automotive industries, engineering, gambling and private equity sectors. Simona acts as a project leader in asset and business transfer projects and transactions, including corporate reorganizations, transfers of employees and outsourcing projects. Simona regularly advises clients on the various aspects of corporate and commercial law.
Marek Holka

Marek Holka

Partner. Marek Holka has been a part of Čechová & Partners since 2011 and became a partner in 2021. His career has focused on the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors, as well as on competition law. He specialises in market access strategies and the pricing and reimbursement of medicinal products, drafting and negotiating managed entry agreements. His advisory work includes the distribution of medicinal products and medical devices through various channels. He is skilled in structuring distribution models and drafting and negotiating distribution agreements. His experience also covers  the strategic setup of pharmaceutical advertising, educational programmes, disease awareness campaigns, and patient support programmes. In the competition law area, Marek has participated in several high-profile cartel cases before the Slovak Competition Authority and the courts, as well as in numerous merger notifications. He regularly advises on antitrust compliance. Marek regularly publishes and speaks on life sciences and antitrust related topic in both domestic and international professional events.
Michaela Jurková

Michaela Jurková

Partner. Michaela Jurková is a partner in Čechová & Partners with more than 15 years of professional experience in corporate and contract law. In addition to the aforementioned legal areas, she is primarily involved in project financing and financial regulation at the present time. Michaela is the head of IP practice of the firm, responsible for providing legal services in the area of intellectual property rights, focusing on trademarks, Internet domain names and copyright (including software rights). In the areas of corporate and contract law, she advised clients on transfers of assets and businesses, acquisition and sale of shares and ownership interests in companies, and mergers of companies, including cross-border mergers. A significant part of her legal practice consists of advising clients on financial transactions both on the part of creditors and debtors, assessing, in particular, Slovak law aspects of facility agreements and related collateral to be provided by Slovak entities, including subsequent implementation of documentation. Michaela has advised many clients from the energy sector (electricity, gas, heat) on regulatory aspects of business in this sector and compliance with regulatory requirements, including the preparation of legal opinions on compliance of Slovak law with EU legislation.
Tomáš Maretta

Tomáš Maretta

Managing Partner. Working for our law firm for more than 25 years, he participated in many transactions, playing a significant role in providing advice on competition law and merger control. Tomáš successfully assisted many international and local undertakings operating in pharmaceutical, chemical, automotive and engineering industries, as well as in the areas of banking and private equity, in connection with local merger clearances. He also provided comprehensive legal services to clients regarding cartel agreements, vertical practices, and issues concerning possible abuse of a dominant position, in addition to representing clients in proceedings before the Slovak Antimonopoly Office and in Slovak courts. He also advised clients on various aspects of private antitrust litigation under Slovak law.  During his practice, he also gained an extensive experience in the area of corporate law, M&A and commercial law. Partner. Miroslav Zaťko is a partner at Čechová & Partners with more than twelve years of experience. He primarily focuses on corporate law, M&A, dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring, and financial services regulation. Miroslav has extensive experience in cross-border acquisitions, group reorganizations, and complex corporate transactions. He has provided comprehensive legal assistance on the Slovak aspects of international acquisitions, including legal due diligence, preparation and negotiation of transaction documentation, corporate restructurings, share transfers, and FDI proceedings. He also supports multinational clients in ongoing corporate and contractual matters, including the preparation and negotiation of commercial agreements and implementation of corporate changes in Slovakia. In the area of dispute resolution and litigation, he has participated in several domestic and international commercial arbitration proceedings and regularly advises and represents clients before Slovak courts. Partner. Katarína Čechová is a founding partner of Čechová & Partners with more than 40 years of continuous legal practice. She focuses primarily on M&A transactions, distressed assets, corporate reorganizations and restructurings, corporate finance and project financing, as well as litigation and arbitration. Katarína is listed as a licensed restructuring and bankruptcy trustee by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic and the Regional Court in Bratislava, and she currently serves as a Member of the Board of the Slovak Bar Association. Katarína has extensive experience advising and representing clients in a wide range of complex domestic and cross-border matters. Lenka leads our M&A practice and real estate practice and is also one of the key members of our employment practice. In real estate, she specializes in transactions (acquisition and sale of real estate), tenancy relations, construction law, regulatory matters concerning real estate, and project developments. As regards M&A, Lenka represents clients operating in various industries in cross-border as well as local transactions.
