About

The firm: EY Law Limited (‘EY Law’) is an incorporated law firm that is a member of the EY global network. The law service line of EY brings together legal professionals from around the world and offers a different approach to delivering legal services. Working alongside other EY professionals, law practitioners provide clients with high-quality, commercial and pragmatic legal advice in areas that complement other EY client services. Through this global reach, multi-jurisdictional and multidisciplinary EY teams can assist clients wherever they are. This approach has gained global recognition and sets it apart from traditional law firms.

As recognised by The Lawyer: ‘What also seems apparent is that they have tapped into a need on the part of clients and a desire on the part of traditional law firm lawyers to offer something broader and potentially better. What’s more, they are just getting started.’ (’A very legal coup: the accountancy giants’, The Lawyer, 22 February 2016).

In New Zealand, EY Law was formed in May 2010 as a focused tax controversy practice with the support of the wider EY network. Since then, it has expanded to include the corporate, employment, health and safety and privacy, trusts and charities, and digital law practices. Kirsty Keating leads the law teams across Australia and New Zealand as the Oceania law leader. Under Kirsty’s leadership these teams have grown rapidly and attracted top-tier lawyers from national and international law firms who are drawn to the EY purpose to build a better working world and serve clients as better connected consultants, locally and globally.

EY Law Limited operates as an independent member firm of the EY Global Network.

Areas of practice: Core practice areas are corporate, employment, health and safety, privacy, trusts and charities, and digital law. Its lawyers work in an integrated manner with professionals from other parts of EY’s business, including assurance, tax, transactions, advisory and people advisory services to deliver informed legal and professional services in a seamless fashion.

The EY approach and strategy is to: integrate law with the other EY offerings in a way that benefits clients in terms of execution and risk; to utilise the reach of the EY global network, joining numerous other jurisdictions around the world on cross-border projects; and to build market-leading teams in the geography in which EY member firms operate.
