Position
Katharina A. Weimer, LL.M. (UNSW) is a Partner in Fieldfisher's Munich office and advises on Data Protection Law and Life Sciences.
As a data protection expert, she helps her clients to find their way through the German and European legal jungle and to find solutions for their scientific and commercial proposals for data marketing.
Her focus on the connection between Life Sciences and Data Protection is related to a plethora of complex questions about the collection and use of sensitive data.
National and international companies entrust her with the structure and roll-out of their GDPR projects and engage her as a consultant on e-commerce websites and data flows, on personal data of employees and on the creation of consent forms for clinical trials.
She not only helps on the data protection side, but also deals with the underlying commercial contracts and structures on a daily basis.
Since every sector has to comply with the regulatory requirements in equal measure, her clients come from all sectors. However, a certain focus - obvious due to her practice - is on Healthcare and IT. From start-ups in the field of social media marketing to established pharmaceutical companies, her services are used as a trusted advisor.
For a medical device manufacturer, she acts as European legal counsel on almost all legal issues, including reimbursement strategies as well as health advertising, competition advice and research collaborations.
In addition, she supports transactions in the telecommunications sector and assists her clients with their contractual and regulatory matters in Germany.
She publishes regularly with PL&B and in numerous other publications:
- The EU Digital Omnibus Package: Key GDPR reforms, published in Privacy Laws & Business International Report, February 2026
- Landmark case on using publicly available data for AI development, first published in Privacy Laws & Business International Report, August 2025 (with Celin Fischer) / Download as PDF
