In a recent highlight, Per Anders Sæhle acted for Transocean on its successful takeover of listed company Songa Offshore; other work for the department includes Sæhle assisting Weifa with a bid by Karo Pharma for its outstanding shares via a voluntary cash offer, department head Dag Erik Rasmussen advising Clarksons Platou Securities as manager of the listing of Star Bulk Carriers on the Oslo Stock Exchange, and Rasmussen and Sigurd Opedal handling Norsk Hydro's NOK27bn acquisition of Orkla's 50% interest in Sapa. Christoffer Bergene is deputy head of the group and newly promoted partner Stian Tande Mortensen leads the DCM practice.

Fishing and aquaculture Tier 1
Wikborg Rein 'has all the expertise clients need when it comes to aquaculture' under the leadership of the 'highly skilled' Grunde Bruland, who is 'the most experienced lawyer in the Norwegian aquaculture sector'. The department handles the full spectrum of aquaculture and fishery issues with particular experience in regulatory work, license applications and development issues. Per Magne Strandborg is the key name in the group for fisheries law, Ketil E Bøe focuses on corporate mandates and M&A expert Jan Erik Clausen handles matters in the seafood industry. Wikborg Rein's 'impressive, proactive and thoughtful patent litigation team' recently represented Siemens in a patent infringement and misuse of confidential information dispute against Subsea Solutions relating to a subsea hydraulic power unit, and defended Teva Europe in a claim against Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma relating to its patent for inhalation capsules. The group also handles issues pertaining to trade marks, trade secrets and unfair competition issues. Line Coll, who joined from an in-house position at Statoil, leads the department; other key practitioners include Gunnar Meyer, who is 'an absolute pleasure to work with', specialist counsel Lars Erik Steinkjer and specialist counsel Hanna Beyer Olaussen, who joined from Advokatfirmaet Ræder AS in 2018 and acted for Arctic Beverage Group in a trade mark dispute.
Maritime law Tier 1
Wikborg Rein's full-service practice includes group leader Gaute Gjelsten and deputy head Øyvind Axe in Oslo and Bergen respectively; Gjelsten is a key name for contentious work and Axe focuses on shipping transactions. Other noteworthy practitioners include Morten Lund Mathisen, who leads the maritime and offshore emergency response team, managing partner Finn Bjørnstad and Trond Eilertsen. Mathisen recently represented Assuranceforeningen Gard in litigation arising from a collision in the Singapore Strait and Axe assisted Solstad Farstad with its merger with Deep Sea Supply. Department head Tormod Ludvik Nilsen is a key name for clean technology transactions in the battery, hydrogen and solar sectors, and his recent work includes advising Luxcara on the development of a wind power portfolio and assisting Kongsberg Automotive with the sale of its ePower unit, which supplies the electric car industry.
