Evangelos Courakis
Evans focuses on energy law, international arbitrations, complicated litigations before the Greek courts, concessions and privatizations and contract negotiation and drafting (with focus on corporate, energy and construction). He is also very experienced in data protection issues, on which he regularly advises. He is heading the Energy Sector and the Data Privacy Departments and he is deputy head at the Arbitration, Litigation and Mediation Department. Evans is recognized by Chambers as having “extensive experience of traditional and renewable energy mandates, including advising investors on the acquisition of wind farms, and gas turbine developments” and being a “trustworthy, well-versed energy lawyer”. Nikitas Fortsakis
Nikitas focuses on all aspects of administrative law, with a special focus on environmental, urban and TMT issues and heads the TMT and the Administrative Law departments of the Firm. He is active in both the advisory and the litigation aspects of the field. His clients include telecom companies, water industries, medical diagnostic centers etc. He also regularly represents clients before the competent authorities and Courts clients on public tenders’ issues and advises them on all relevant issues. He is also very active in pharmaceutical law cases advising clients on EU and Greek regulatory and compliance matters, preparing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements (including distribution agreements, collaborations agreements) and other and representing pharmaceutical companies before the administrative courts for various issues (promotion, marketing and licensing of medicines etc). He is also particularly very active in anti-corruption (including FCPA) and data protection cases and has extensive experience in addressing relevant processes before the competent authorities.

Yiannis focuses on public procurement & concession projects, privatizations, and administrative law. He has substantial experience in advising international and domestic clients in their participation in public tenders and awarding authorities on the launching of public tenders. He guides and represents them through all stages of international tender procedures, including at the litigation level, and advises on all aspects of regulatory and administrative law matters. Yannis has, also, a strong track record in representing clients in privatization procedures in a wide array of industries including infrastructure and energy.

Dr. Ioannis Kaptanis heads the Project Finance Department of our Firm, focusing on concession projects, project finance transactions, and privatisations. He regularly advises and represents clients in arbitration and litigation, as well as contract negotiation. Moreover, he advises banks and corporations on financing transactions, particularly asset backed lending transactions, derivatives and repo agreements. Ioannis is ranked as Market Leader in Project Finance and Project Development by the  IFLR1000 and a Leading Partner in the practice areas of Projects and Privatisation, of Banking, Finance & Capital Markets and of Dispute Resolution in Greece by The Legal 500 EMEA. Dora Karagiorou
Dora focuses on real estate transactions, advising both domestic and international real estate investors  on M&A and asset deals, as well as disposals. Her expertise covers the due diligence of real estate portfolios, drafting SPAs, pre-agreements and reservation agreements, and providing guidance on complex real estate matters including planning and zoning law issues. In addition, Dora is actively involved in negotiating and drafting of commercial lease or mixed agreements, and real estate management contracts, including those for hotels. She is praised “for being responsive, proactive and expert in her field”. Dora is also experienced and regularly involved in employment law, advising national and international clients, as employers, on all types of individual and collective employer-employee relationships, as well as benefits and compensation related issues. In the context of M&A transactions, she maintains substantial experience in advising on complex issues arising out of the transfer of undertakings and the application of the TUPE provisions, as well as on all potential labour law issues faced by the target company.

Chrysanthi holds a wide range of transactional and advisory experience with a focus on M&A, capital markets and banking & finance transactions. Her track record includes advising on international rights offerings and other equity offerings, Greek and cross-border M&A transactions, large scale financings, complex debt and equity restructurings, NPL portfolio sales and tender offers. Prior to joining Koutalidis Law Firm, Chrysanthi worked in the corporate and banking department of another major international law firm.

Gregory’s particular expertise lies in construction, civil, commercial and administrative law disputes, and he has extensive experience in complex arbitration (national and international, particularly under ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and LMAA Rules, as well as ad hoc) and litigation as counsel and arbitrator. He is also very experienced in procurement law matters and advises on a regular basis concessionaires and constructors of infrastructure projects on matters related to their operation. Gregory has acted as head of the Procurement and Contracts Department of the Public Power Corporation for several years, where he is still active as senior counsel.

Effie heads the Corporate Finance Department of our Firm, advising regularly foreign and domestic banks in a broad range of financing transactions, including syndicated bond loans and capital market issues such as Eurobonds or high yield, as well as issues of Greek Government Bonds. In recent years, she has also been advising Greek Banks and investors in relation to the sale and purchase of NPL portfolios, by way of securitisations or otherwise and the entry into servicing arrangements. Her practice also includes advising credit and financial institutions on debt and equity issues, as well as regulatory matters during their day to day operations or as part of M&A transactions.

With over 15 years of experience in the Greek tax administration, having served as the director of legal services, and as a legal counsel for the former Alternate Minister of Finance, Lydia advises domestic and multinational corporations on direct and indirect tax matters, with an emphasis on domestic and cross-border business restructurings, EU and international corporate taxation, real estate taxation and dispute resolution. She has a high degree of expertise in corporate taxation and tax procedures, having been actively involved in the design and drafting of the Greek income tax code and the Greek tax procedures code. Lydia publishes regularly in Greek and international tax law reviews. She is also actively advising a number of jurisdictions on international tax law design and tax law reforms, as a senior tax law expert for the International Monetary Fund.
