In the past few months several products liability/public nuisance/consumer fraud cases were filed against JUUL Labs, Inc., in New York State. The cases have generally involved users of e-cigarettes claiming they have developed addiction and lung disease. Counsel for JUUL was able to remove several of these cases to federal court, but at least one new consumer-based case has been filed which remains in state court. Further, the attorney general of the State of New York's civil lawsuit against JUUL continues, with a court-ordered discovery schedule indicating that the case will proceed into 2022.
