Air Quality and Land Use Planning
Guidance under section 88(1) of the Environment Act 1995 has been issued by the DETR. Section 88(2) of the Act requires Authorities to have regard to this guidance when carrying out any of their functions under or by virtue of Part IV of that Act. The note provides guidance on the linkages between air quality considerations and the planning process. It is designed to help local authorities in the development of action plans to deal with specific localised air quality problems and strategies to improve air quality more generally.
