The Amsterdam Exchanges NV and the Amsterdam Option & Future Exchange, the EOE-Optiebeurs is introducing a new stock index from 4th October 1995. This index, to be called the Amsterdam Midkap-index will be made up of 25 stocks and will display, continuously, the market movement of stocks in the middle segment of the Dutch equity market.
The Amsterdam Midkap-index has been prepared by a joint committee from both Amsterdam exchanges. The principal aim is to create an index which will provide a reflection of the price movements in medium-sized Dutch companies. The index is also to be used in providing underlying value for derivative products, such as options and futures.
The 25 stocks included in the Amsterdam Midkap-are those that follow, immediately, those 25 stocks that make up the Amsterdam EOE-index. The stocks in the Amsterdam EOE-index account for 86% to the total market capitalisation of stocks on the Amsterdam Exchanges NV; the stocks in the Amsterdam Midkap-index account approximately for the subsequent 8%.
The Amsterdam Midkap-index is made up of the following stocks: Ahrend, Begemann, De Boer Winkelbedrijven, Borsumij Wehry, Boskalis Westminster, Cap Volmac, Fokker Vliegtuigenfabriek, Frans Maas, Gamma Holding, Getronics, Grolsch, Hagemeyer, Hollandse Beton Groep, Hunter Douglas, IHC Caland, Internatio-Muller, Koninklijke Bijenkorf Beheer KBB, Koninklijke Ten Cate, Nutricia, Oc'-Van der Grinten, Randstad Holding, Sphinx Gustavsberg, Stad Rotterdam, Van Ommeren and Volker Stevin.
