Rautaruukki Oy, a Finnish firm in the steel industry, acquired the Swedish firm Fundia AB, of which it previously owned fifty per cent. Fundia mainly produces concrete steel and rod iron and its last year turnover was approximately 900 million U.S. dollars. The acquisition price was approximately 94 million U.S. dollars.
The acquisition will make Rautaruukki the market leader and the largest producer of steel products in the Nordic countries. Its main rival in the Nordic countries will be the Swedish firm SSAB.
