TARIFF REDUCTIONS AND INCENTIVES FOR IMPORTING HIGH TECHNOLOGY
The Ministry of Industry has confirmed that tariff reductions and other incentives for importing high technology applicable to both domestic and foreign investors are being considered. However, no specific timing has been indicated and at this time no proposal has been drafted. Several proposals of a similar nature have been rejected in the past.
NEW CIVIL CODE
The Justice Ministry recently started preparation of the new Czech Civil Code. The current code, which has been effective from the year 1964, is now not sufficient in the current economic climate of the country. The changes will influence family law, ownership rights, inheritance, labour relations, tort, copyright and patents, and securities. However, as the Ministry has admitted, the preparation of the new Code may take several years.
