Bears Ears, designated by President Obama in 2016, was the first national monument developed and designated with direct involvement of Native American tribes through the Bears Ears Commission. In 2017, President Trump significantly reduced the size of the monument via presidential proclamation. Our team is actively involved in litigation over President Trump’s 2017 proclamation in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia (D.D.C.), and in the ensuing litigation related to President Biden’s redesignation of the Bears Ears National Monument.
