Andrew was born in South Africa and was educated at the University of Cape Town where he obtained degrees in Business Science and Law. He completed pupillage with 3TG and was made a tenant in 2011.

He has previously worked for major financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley and Cantor Fitzgerald, specialising in the field of fixed income derivatives and for several years managed a race engineering company, which specialised in the racing of historic Formula 1 cars from the 60s and 70s.

Andrew has been instructed in serious and high-profile cases including murder (as a led junior), attempted murder, multi-handed violent disorder, armed robbery, serious drugs offences, and Companies Act offences. He has also been instructed in a number of Health and Safety law cases.

His previous experience in finance has proved to be invaluable when dealing with fraud and Company Law type offences.
He is highly computer literate, with a degree major in Information Technology and industry experience in Excel and SQL programming. He has lectured on the topic of computer/telephone-based evidence and is regularly instructed in cases where electronic evidence is central.

Andrew has a reputation of being straight-talking and approachable. A passionate advocate, with a reputation for being a fighter; he is respected by both lay and professional clients. As a fluent Afrikaans speaker, he is particularly popular with South African defendants.
Although most of his practice is defence work, Andrew is also a level two prosecutor.

When time permits Andrew can be found racing and repairing historic cars, motorcycle touring, playing squash or coaching rugby.

Successful application to dismiss in nine-handed violent disorder and conspiracy to commit violent disorder case. This was the second trial to arise out of a stabbing in Dollis Hill in 2012; the first trial having resulted in a conviction for murder.
