Career

With a reputation as confident, robust and engaging advocate, Patrick enjoys a busy defence practice throughout the South Eastern Circuit. He accepts instructions nationwide defending the full range of serious criminal offences, both conspiratorial and substantive, in particular all manner of fraud and serious sexual and violent offences, including murder.

Recent instructions include cases which have attracted both local and national interest such as Operation Labootin at Kingston (drug trafficking involving 1 tonne of class A drugs), R v D & Others, (multi-handed youth murder) at Basildon, R v S (charges arising out of gunfight in North London) at Wood Green and R v M & Others (charges arising out of gunfight in Hertfordshire) at Luton.

Patrick is a founding committee member of the London Irish Lawyers Association of which he was elected joint Chairperson from 2012-2015 and in 2013 was recognised in the Legal 50 as one of the top Irish Leaders in Britain.

Having worked in the legal department of a large multinational company in Paris, Patrick speaks fluent French. He is also fluent in Gaelic, which admittedly is less useful!

Outside of the Bar, Patrick wastes his time following the Republic of Ireland football team, cycling up steep hills and going to too many gigs. In 2017 along with his wife, Patrick cycled through 26 countries covering 15,000km from London to South East Asia.
