Position

Sallie Bennett-Jenkins QC was appointed Queen’s Counsel in October 2006 following a period of 8 years as Treasury Counsel. Sallie has cemented her reputation as a leading QC, noted for her exceptional advocacy skills and commitment to her clients.

She is first choice defence counsel in a wide range of practices, where intellectual ability, strategy and sensitivity are required.  

Sallie is instructed in a variety of matters, charges of fraud, sexual impropriety or murder. 

Sallie has expanded her regulatory practice, representing students facing disciplinary matters within universities. The breadth of her practice is a testimony to her skills.

Sallie lectures in the UK and overseas on a range of topics and to visiting judiciary to the UK on issues relating to sexual offences. She was appointed as a Recorder in 1998 and is authorised to try cases relating to Serious Sexual Offences. Sallie’s vast skillset means her practice is unusually varied, her recent instructions include advising a client in relation to the bribery and corruption enquiry allegedly concerning Rolls Royce, representing a client in a 3 month long trial relating to historic child sexual exploitation (Operation Bullfinch), representing a US national in relation to causing death by dangerous driving whilst on business for a leading pharmaceutical company in the UK. She also recently appeared as the first appellant in the conjoined cases that were heard before The Lord Chief Justice to consider the impact of R v Jogee on joint enterprise and secondary liability.

Sallie has recently been awarded with an honorary doctorate as a recognition of her preeminence in law.
