Partner, European and UK Patent Attorney

Career

Henry is a European and UK Patent Attorney. He specialises in advising SMEs on how to obtain protection for their IP as well as related business considerations. This work includes drafting British, European, International and US patent applications as well as developing IP strategies, performing IP due diligence investigations and advising on all forms of IP protection. Henry is experienced at supporting companies through all of the stages of their development, from their founding to successful sale. Although a lot of Henry’s clients are SMEs, in particular university spin-out companies, his clients also include a number of multinational corporations and he is an expert at prosecuting patent applications before the EPO.

Henry has a significant presence in Norway where he has been providing IP assistance to a large number of clients since 2012.

Henry has expertise in a wide range of technical fields. These include green technologies, oil and gas technologies, electrical and electronic engineering, electro-mechanical technologies and chemical engineering. In particular, Henry has specialist knowledge and experience of carbon capture and storage, hydrogen production, mobile telecommunications, electrical circuits, optics, software and business methods.

Henry is also an Expert Assessor for the Solar Impulse Foundation, an organisation that promotes innovation in green technologies. Henry’s role as an Expert Assessor allows him to anonymously assist companies with his opinion on their technologies and business plan.

Henry is based in J A Kemp’s London office. He joined the firm as an associate in 2017 after working elsewhere in private practice since 2007. He became a partner in 2019.
