Career

Jan-Mathijs Hermans is a partner and a civil-law notary in Corporate. He is active in M&A, Private Equity and Capital Markets transactions. He works side by side in complex finance and asset finance projects with our Banking team. He specializes in corporate, real estate law, (asset) finance, security and enforcement. Prior to joining Dentons, Jan-Mathijs had over 14 years’ experience as a partner in the Corporate and Finance department of Simmons & Simmons LLP in Amsterdam.

His clients include Dutch and international corporations and businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, private equity firms, real estate and hedge funds, banks and other financial institutions.

He advises on complex (cross border) transactions and delivers high quality service thanks to his international work experience and strong work ethic based on accessibility, discretion and a hands-on approach.

Jan-Mathijs is a trusted advisor to several leading multinationals and banks, acting as a civil-law notary and a corporate legal advisor for Procter & Gamble Company, Upfield Europe B.V. and Unibail-Rodamco in the Netherlands, among others.

Over time he produced as (co-)author or editor various publications, amongst which (as of 2013) updating the contribution for The Netherlands for Aircraft Finance, Registration, Security and Enforcement, (2007) an article in the legal magazine Tijdschrift voor de Ondernemingsrechtpraktijk on Recent developments relating to cross border reorganisations of legal entities and (2001) a contribution for the Netherlands Antilles for Global Estate Planning, A Practical Guide to the Principles of Estate, Inheritance and Gift Taxes. He is engaged in social community activities, takes up other (pro bono) positions and participates in business clubs.
