I am a specialist criminal solicitor with over 10 years of experience. I have represented 2,000+ clients facing criminal proceedings for many different types of offence.

Member

I have been a member of the Police Station and Magistrates’ Court Duty Solicitor Schemes for many years having successfully completed the Law Society accreditation processes and assessments.

Education

I joined David Gray Solicitors LLP as a trainee solicitor in March 2002 and qualified as a solicitor in January 2004.

I came to the law following a career in the Royal Marines, during which time I served on various NATO exercises.

I obtained my degree from Northumbria University before joining David Gray Solicitors LLP.

David Gray Solicitors LLP is recognised by clients and peers alike for its criminal law practice, which frequently works in conjunction with the firm’s mental health, immigration and family departments. In co-operation with the latter, the team acted in a case concerning the assault against a child where a parent is said to be responsible for the infliction of non-accidental injuries. Other recent work includes acting for a client accused of joint enterprise murder, defending a client against drug supply-related allegations as well as acting in a number of rape trials and proceedings concerning death by dangerous driving. Team head Brian Hegarty frequently acts as a higher court advocate and represents defendants in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal. Other key individuals include solicitor Michael Gibson, who is particularly experienced in handling assault and motoring offence-related trials, senior solicitor Janice Hall, who is well versed in dealing with youth court proceedings alongside criminal matters involving domestic violence and sexual offences, as well as solicitors Emma Silburn and Paul Harbison, who are both recognised for their expertise in mental health-related work.
