Career

Partner of CMS Grau since 1978 with more than 35 years of experience; highly recommended lawyer as specialist in his field of practice and ranked as country senior statesman by international publications. Concentrates in Mining and Oil & Gas law in Peru. Took part in the drafting, executing and advising of the oil exploration contract which enabled the discovery of Camisea, a 13 TCF natural gas project, Peru’s most important natural gas reserve. Took part in some of the most relevant privatisation processes such as Antamina, La Granja and Toromocho, among others, acting also as director of the respective companies. Continues advising on mining and hydrocarbons projects and represents current mining companies involved in significant investment projects in Peru, Chile and Paraguay. Has been instrumental in several modifications to the Paraguayan mining law (2010 and 2013) to make it more competitive and practical to foreign investors. Is currently acting as director, lead counsel, legal representative and responsible individual for governmental affairs to the group lead by J. David Lowell -mining Hall of Fame geologist- in CIC Resources which recently has discovered a world class Titanium-Ilmenite project in Alto Parana.
