Career

Ed Stanton serves as the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group leader. His practice primarily includes conducting internal investigations, defending white collar cases, and advising corporate clients on a variety of C-suite issues. Prior to joining Butler Snow, Ed served as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee and was in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 Company.

Ed’s experience includes serving as the Court-Appointed Monitor in the case of ACLU v. City of Memphis, stemming from the Memphis Police Department’s violations of a federal consent decree.  He is a board member of the National Association of Former United States Attorneys (NAFUSA) and is the past president of the National Bar Association (Ben F. Jones Chapter).

Ed obtained his J.D. from the University of Memphis School of Law and is admitted to the Tennessee Bar; U.S. District Courts: Tennessee, Western District; Mississippi, Northern District; Texas, Northern District; U.S. Court of Appeals:  5th Circuit and 6th Circuit.
