Liz graduated from the University of Kent with a degree in law and German, spending time at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.

Liz is a member of the Association of Pensions lawyers and sits on the European Committee of the Society of Pensions Consultants.

She is a partner in our human resources practice group responsible for our pensions team internationally. She is involved in advising companies, trustees and also other professional advisers in a whole range of pensions work including mergers and acquisitions, funding negotiations, employer covenant issues, scheme mergers and rationalisations, scheme conversions from defined benefit to defined contribution and hybrid schemes.

Liz also has experience of employment-related aspects of pensions including the transfer of businesses, executive packages and severances and the ramifications of scheme change. Her specific areas of expertise in international work includes:

  • Project managing multijurisdictional work from the UK; 
  • Retirement benefit plan change, closures and wind-ups; 
  • Benefit audits; 
  • Harmonisation programmes; 
  • Cross border retirement arrangements; 
  • Co-ordinating seamless pensions, employment and labour legal advice dealing with local management, Unions, Works Councils and other employee bodies.

Recent projects include:

  • Advising on global outsourcing arrangements, including in particular across Europe and the US; 
  • Co-ordinating a comprehensive terms and conditions and benefit audit across nine jurisdictions in Europe; 
  • Acting on virtual secondment to assist the Head of Reward of a major manufacturing Plc in a post acquisition integration project in Europe; 
  • Managing the process of negotiating with Unions in the Netherlands on behalf of the UK Head Office, to implement a new pension arrangement; 
  • Part of a project management team in Germany to manage the transition of retirement benefit arrangements and administration services to a new third party provider.

Liz speaks fluent English (native language) German and French.

She is rated as Band 1 by Chambers 2014 and described as “highly pragmatic” and as a leading individual by Legal 500.
