John is a consultant who has joined from HM Revenue & Customs where, as a policy and technical adviser, he worked closely, over nearly ten years, with senior industry representatives and committees, regulatory bodies and HM Treasury and Ministers, to develop tax legislation relating to collective investment schemes and their investors.

He has taken the lead on a wide variety of legislative changes enhancing the UK's competitiveness as a centre for asset management, domicile of funds and investment companies. In particular, he led the work in connection with the introduction of the UK’s tax transparent funds regime and the tax elements of the UK Investment Management Strategy, both of which have been actively supported by the investment management industry, while continuing his work with his HMRC operational colleagues to resolve customer issues.
