Mark is a partner in Eversheds Sutherland’s Financial Services Disputes and Investigations group in London. He advises clients on all aspects of financial services and commercial litigation. Mark has particular expertise in asset recovery and assisting financial institutions in dealing with freezing orders, third party debt orders and all forms of disclosure order, particularly where these raises cross-border issues.
Mark’s recent experience includes:
• acting for a foreign corporate in relation to the recovery of benefits received by a former business partner in breach of his fiduciary duties;
• advising a leading private bank in relation to a broad and complex third party disclosure order together with related freezing orders;
• successfully defending a major private bank in relation to claims for breach of fiduciary duty arising out of historic finder agreements;
• acting for a foreign corporate in proceedings concerning the enforceability and wrongful termination of various conditional fee agreements;
• acting for a corporate trustee facing proceedings in multiple jurisdictions following the insolvency of a bond issuer;
• acting for a US investment bank in judicial review proceedings in connection with disputed VAT assessments; and
• undertaking an internal VAT investigation for a Fortune 500 commodities broker.
