Career

Naffie Lamin is an associate in the Derivatives and Structured Products practice.

Ms. Lamin advises buy-side clients, sell-side clients and derivatives clearinghouses, among others, on over-the-counter and exchange-traded derivatives, structured products, securitization, project finance and commodities matters. She assists clients with the documentation and negotiation of customized derivative transactions, including structured hedging facilities in project finance transactions. She also advises on various regulatory issues related to derivatives and other financial products, including implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act.

Ms. Lamin is a member of Shearman & Sterling’s FinTech Foundry program, which supports clients’ FinTech-related activities and the wider global FinTech ecosystem that consists of financial institutions, FinTech start-ups, venture capital and private equity investors, among others. She is a contributor on the firm’s FinTech blog, where she authors posts on current events in the FinTech space. Recently, Ms. Lamin served as a judge for Quesnay’s 2018 Female Founders in Tech Competition, where she helped evaluate business models of female-led FinTech startups.

Ms. Lamin is Co-chair of WISER, the associate-run network that supports and advances the hiring, retention, development and promotion of women at the firm, and a member of BLAQUE, the firm’s black attorneys’ inclusion network.
