Matthew is a partner in the firm’s Rural and Agricultural Property team Matthew undertakes a range of agricultural work including:

  1. Sales and purchases of agricultural property including farms and estates;
  2. Sales and purchases of substantial country dwellings;
  3. Intra-family gifts of farms and estates;
  4. Charges of farms and estates acting for lenders and borrowers alike;
  5. Farming partnerships;
  6. Agricultural tenancy work including surrender and re-grants;
  7. Sporting leases;
  8. Transfers in and out of trusts;
  9. Overage covenants;
  10. Easements; and
  11. Sales to developers.

Matthew also deals with residential property transactions for his particular client base.  He is accredited under the Conveyancing Quality Scheme.

Matthew works very closely with other leading professionals in the agricultural sector and is always happy to chat ideas through with likeminded professionals.

Matthew qualified as a solicitor in 2014. Since qualification, Matthew has adopted a pragmatic and hands on approach to resolving problems. Matthew understands the interface between property and tax planning work and works very closely with the firm’s private client department. He has developed a niche in farming partnership work and appreciates the importance of becoming a trusted adviser to farming families.

Matthew is an avid countryman and his interest in the rural sector with a particular interest in fieldsports gives him a practical edge in his niche areas of work which client’s greatly appreciate.   He has a good practical knowledge of all things agricultural/rural which allows his legal advice to be specifically tailored to the agricultural industry.
