Katie qualified in 2017, having first joined J B Leitch in 2011. Throughout her career with the firm, Katie has developed a strong, practical understanding and knowledge of Property Litigation areas including service charge and ground rent disputes, forfeiture, breach of covenant and trespass.

Career

Acting for primarily larger residential sector clients including landlords and management companies, Katie successfully acts and assists in the handling of First-tier Tribunal matters and actions such as injunctions, s.20 Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 consultation dispensation applications and service charge reasonableness and liability claims.

Notably, Katie acted in the reported matter of Holding & Management (Solitaire) Limited v Miller.
Katie has developed considerable knowledge and understanding of matters relating to fire safety, and has acted and provided support in a number of key cases relating to lease variations, notices, specific advice relating to balconies, compartmentation and advisory work for landlords and managing agents on their responsibilities and obligations.

Further, Katie was an integral part of the J B Leitch team which handled a service charge liability claim involving over 100 respondent leaseholders, along with advising on 3 other major cases led by the litigation team. Katie is an established team member and noted team player, taking a lead in the management and handling of her caseload for clients who appreciate her fresh, helpful and outcomes-focused advice.
