Career

Kate joined Advocates Smith Taubitz Unsworth Ltd in October 2013, having spent just over 5 years working in the Isle of Man’s High Court Office as Clerk to the Second Deemster and latterly as Clerk to the Staff of Government Division (Appeal Court). Kate initially undertook the role of paralegal, whilst also undertaking the full-time Legal Practice Course, and began her Training Contract with us in September 2014, qualifying in September 2016.

Kate advises clients in all areas of litigation and also attends at the Police Station to advise under the Duty Advocate Scheme. As a consequence, Kate regularly appears before all of the Island’s Courts. Recognising that legal proceedings can be difficult for those involved, Kate endeavours to provide clients with professional and straightforward advice in an approachable manner.

Kate’s reputation as a well prepared and tenacious Advocate is growing and she is a leading junior in the fields of criminal and family litigation.
