Career
Muzammil Husain is a Partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property practice and works with the Patent Group.
Muzammil works closely on matters pertaining to portfolio management including inventor’s interviews, patentability analysis, drafting of provisional specifications and complete specifications to be filed in India and USA. He has substantial experience in patent prosecution in various jurisdictions such as United States, EP, Japan, China, Korea, Columbia, Mexico, and other jurisdictions. Muzammil handles an extensive patent portfolio comprising of several domestic and overseas clients. His key areas of competency are computer software, computer architecture, electronics and communication, wireless networking, biomedical devices, mechanical systems and business method applications. In these areas, he has extensively counseled corporates as well as inventors.
Muzammil also has experience in analysing upcoming technology areas and recognising market potential for the technology area. He has been closely engaged with his clients in sensitising them on various IP issues and developing their in-house capabilities as well as their IP policies. He has helped numerous clients in formulating their patent strategies internally and in response to portfolios of competitors. Muzammil has also assisted clients in identification of potential risks in adopting technologies and to devise risk mitigation plans in advance.
Muzammil has worked as a software engineer, technical lead and project co-manager on various software projects in India and the U.S. Some of his clients while working in the software industry include Dell Computers (Texas), Fujitsu PC (California), Smart Pipes Inc. (Ohio), Network Appliance (California), and Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO-India).
