Career

Yinka specialises in all areas of media litigation, including defamation, misuse of private information, data protection and harassment.

She has successfully represented a wide range of clients, including politicians, actors, musicians, private individuals, corporates and charities, in media matters. Yinka is experienced in representing both claimants and defendants and has acted both for and against national newspapers and broadcasters. She also advises on pre- and post-publication issues.

Yinka has considerable experience in libel, privacy and Data Protection Act claims against newspapers, acting recently for Harry Rollo Gabb, Heather and Fiona Mills, the children of Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky. Yinka is also acting for Magnus Granath, a Norwegian national who is being sued by the well-known Bitcoin entrepreneur Dr Craig Wright.

Yinka has also been involved in the Mirror Group Newspapers phone hacking litigation assisting James Heath in his role as lead solicitor for the claimant group against MGN Limited. She has also represented numerous individuals in their claims against NGN Limited and has many ongoing claims for a number of individuals.

In recent years, Yinka has been heavily involved in defamation litigation, representing a number of defendant libel clients including the Telegraph Media Group, the Evening Standard, the Independent and Mirror Group Newspapers. Notably, at a previous firm, Yinka was the lead assistant in the first trial of the “serious harm” test.
