Anderson Mori & Tomotsune handles the cross-border aspects of inbound and outbound equity and debt capital market transactions, primary offerings of 'samurai bonds' by foreign issuers, and J-REIT matters. In recent highlights, Hironori Shibata acted for a Japanese issuer and selling shareholder on the global IPO of LIXIL VIVA, while Minoru Kobayashi advised The Shizuoka Bank on the overseas issuance of $300m floating rate convertible bonds due in 2023. EZAKI GLICO appointed a team led by Kazuhiro Yoshii to oversee its issuance of JPY30bn zero coupon convertible bonds due in 2024, and Ryu Umezu was appointed Japanese counsel by Okura on its public offering and listing of shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The construction and real estate practice at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune specialises in cross-border transactions – particularly on behalf of foreign entities investing into the Japanese market – and J-REIT offerings. In recent highlights, Harume Nakano , Naoyuki Kabata and Motoya Ishibashi represented Nippon Prologis REIT in its acquisition of a logistics facility, and Tatsu Katayama was part of the team which advised the Japan Retail Fund Investment Corporation on its JPY15bn purchase of a retail facility. Japan Hotel REIT recently appointed Ryu Umezu to lead on its acquisition of three high-profile hotels, including the Hilton Tokyo Narita Airport hotel. Minoru Kobayashi assisted the joint global coordinators and other underwriters with the global public offering of investment units of Daiwa House REIT, and handled a non-recourse financing project backed by a large portfolio of retail properties on behalf of a major bank.
