Joanna specialises in employment law assisting businesses and individuals with all types of work related issues.

She is skilled in drafting bespoke documentation including contracts of employment, handbooks and company policies for a variety of business sectors, as well as reviewing and advising on such documents for employees at all levels.

Joanna also enjoys advising on all manner of day-to-day employment law issues that arise such as flexible working requests, long term sickness absence as well as disciplinary and grievance procedures.

She regularly provides advice on TUPE matters related to the sale and purchase of businesses and the associated issues that may occur as a result of inheriting employees, or attempts to change terms and conditions.

Joanna can also assist with all stages of Employment Tribunal claims from drafting the initial claim or defence to preparing witness statements and assessing the potential value of a claim.

She is regularly instructed to advise on and negotiate Settlement Agreements (formerly known as Compromise Agreements), particularly for high net worth individuals in the City, as well as preparing such documents for employers.

Joanna has a particular interest in discrimination issues having successfully assisted clients with claims relating to pregnancy/maternity discrimination as well as disability discrimination.

Joanna regularly presents seminars on topical employment law issues, such as ‘Responding to Sexual Harassment Complaints in the #MeToo Era’, ‘Managing Mental Health in the Workplace’ and ‘Flexible Working and Family Leave Rights.’

She also advises on GDPR and data protection matters, including compliance, making and responding to subject access requests and breach reports to the ICO.
