Nicholas Howell-Jones
Position
Nick joined St Philips Chambers from St Ives Chambers in February 2012. He is instructed in all aspects of matrimonial finance and has a large ancillary relief practice with extensive experience of complex high net worth cases including those involving business, farming or pension issues. He also has experience of disputes between unmarried couples, in particular applications under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and Schedule 1 applications. Within his ancillary relief practice he has a particular expertise in third party interveners and enforcement proceedings. Prior to coming to the Bar, Nick was a partner in a firm of solicitors. He has seen cases from both sides of the profession and brings all that experience with him and knows what he would expect from counsel. He has a forthright approach, meeting clients at their level. Nick welcomes the opportunity to be involved at an early stage of the case in order to achieve the best outcome and believes pre-issue conferences can make a difference. Nick is happy in attending at the offices of his professional clients for conferences. Each topic is considered with an agenda and a strategy put in place to deal with each issue. Nick aims to take a sympathetic, yet realistic approach, while keeping the key issues firmly in mind. Nick has lectured widely on all aspects of ancillary relief, and written articles covering numerous topics within this field. He provides in-house training to many individual solicitors firms.
