Position
Kate is a senior associate (New Zealand qualified) and specialises in the international elements of UK taxation, trust law and asset structuring.
Kate predominantly acts for high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families with intricate multi-jurisdictional affairs. She has extensive experience in providing complex cross-border tax and succession planning advice, and has developed a particular expertise in advising international family offices.
Career
In early 2019, she identified the need for a US-focused adviser within Irwin Mitchell’s Private Wealth department and set out gaining the necessary expertise, experience and contacts to develop this service line. Accordingly, US/UK cross-border matters have become a core part of Kate’s practice and she has become one of the firm’s leading advisers in this area.
Kate also has significant experience in advising clients from continental Europe and the Middle East. She is the lead non-partner fee earner in a team that acts for one of the wealthiest non-Royal trading families in the Middle East in relation to their worldwide personal and private wealth structuring.
Kate won Associate Lawyer of the Year at the Citywealth Future Leaders Award and was named in Citywealth’s 100 Future Leaders List for 2020. She was also listed as one of the team’s ‘key lawyers’ in last year’s legal 500 publication.
Kate recently passed her final STEP exam with distinction is now a full STEP member.
