Career

Dr. jur. Zhuomin Wu specializes in bilateral IP matters between China and Germany since 10 years. He is skilled in litigation management for Chinese clients in international IP disputes, in particular patent litigation in Germany and Europe. He is also experienced in consulting German and European clients on IP-related matters during their business in Greater China. Zhuomin works primarily in IoT, intelligent robotics, and life science sector, with special focus on dispute and licensing regarding standard essential patents.

Since the EU-China IPR2 project during 2009 and 2011, which was established by the European Commission and MOFCOM, he has been commissioned by MOFCOM as a neutral IP mediator for dispute resolution at major international trade fairs in Germany, and handled approx. 500 cross-border IP disputes so far; Zhuomin has extensive expertise in the strategy and management of complex transnational procedures. Before joining VOSSIUS in 2017, Mr. Wu was already responsible for dealing with cases relating to China in two renowned German patent and law firms.

Zhuomin Wu is an author of various legal publications in Chinese, English and German language; he regularly gives lectures about IP protection in China, Germany and Europe.

Education

Zhuomin studied law both in China and Germany. After finishing his LL.M. at Heidelberg University, he had a long term clerkship at the IP Chamber of the Chinese Supreme Court. He did Ph.D. research on patent protection for biotechnical inventions at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich under the supervision of Prof. Dr. jur. Joseph Straus and he was a scholarship holder at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition.
