Career

As an associate with the firm’s Competition & Regulatory practice, Liisa Maria helps clients in a broad spectrum of areas, including data protection and information technology law, competition law, distribution and trade, and life sciences & healthcare.

Interest in data protection law. With a deep interest in data protection law, she has helped many clients achieve compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and national data protection law. She believes that businesses should be able to capture the value of data while protecting the fundamental rights of citizens, and she aims to help clients achieve that goal. She also defended her master’s thesis on the topic of processing health data for the use of innovative data analytics solutions in the healthcare sector.

Wide-ranging experience. Having started at the firm first as a trainee and then as a legal assistant, she has gained valuable experience in numerous complex cases, for example in regulatory compliance and trade regulation matters, drafting and implementing different trade agreements, and resolving related disputes.

Achievements as a student. During her studies, Liisa interned at the Prosecutor’s Office and at the legal clinic of the University of Tartu. In 2018, she was awarded 1st place in the XXI Estonian Moot Court Competition along with her team. In the following year, she was a member of the organizing committee of the competition and member of the board of the Estonian Moot Court Society. She is a graduate of the Sorainen Student Academy class of 2016/2017.
