Career
As an associate with the firm’s finance & insurance sector and service groups, Oliver Ämarik deals with a wide range of matters, including capital markets, insurance, financial regulatory, and Fintech.
A wide range of competencies. As a member of the finance and insurance service group, he has had a great opportunity to advise clients in various fields, including insurance, capital markets transactions, digital- and cryptoassets, and financial regulatory matters. Above all, he enjoys working on financial regulatory matters in today’s endlessly innovative (business) environment where businesses are actively seeking to disrupt the status quo of the market. He is also very keen on working on capital market transactions.
In-house experience. He has worked as an in-house counsel for a Fintech start-up focusing on global equity funding and trading services for growth companies. This has given him a great insight into the business needs of a company operating in a heavily regulated sector, enabling him to develop an understanding of such a market in general, as well as teaching him how important it is to balance the needs of business growth with doing it in a safe and sound manner in order to ensure the sustainability and reputation of a company. He is a welcome advocate for problem-solving, with the ultimate goal of having all parties satisfied moving forward.
Intern with the firm. Before joining Sorainen, he was an intern with the Sorainen Data Protection practice. He is also a graduate of the Sorainen Student Academy.
Studying international corporate law. He spent part of his master’s studies as an exchange student at the University of Tilburg in the Netherlands, focusing on EU external relations law and international corporate law. Furthermore, Before joining the Finance & Insurance practice, he was a member of the Corporate and M&A practice.
Moot court experience. He has successfully participated in the European Union Law Moot Court Competition.
