Gillespie Macandrew LLP's team has had an upswing in commercial property activity.. The housebuilding side of the practice has gained momentum, with the firm adding to its client roster names such as Robertson Partnership Homes, Merchant Homes and Turnberry Homes. Harry Smith, who heads up a dedicated housebuilder team, recently worked with senior solicitor Andrew Leslie and Isobell Reid to advise Bellway Homes on the £10m+ acquisition of a development site at Bishopton in Renfrewshire. They also acted for Avant Homes (Scotland) Limited in the £9.5m acquisition of a development site at Shott Farm in High Blantyre. Commercial development work is another area of strength; clients include Newland Assets, Worthington Property Maintenance and Midtown Capital. Elsewhere, there has been a notable uptick in real estate finance mandates, with the firm generating work from UK and international banks, and alternative lenders; Kenneth Irons, Greg Peebles and others recently acted for Assetz SME Capital in a number of loan finance transactions. Another pillar of the practice is in investment transactions, which span sub-sectors such as retail, office and industrial. David Milne heads up the commercial property team.
