Career

Echefu has cognate experience in shipping law, international trade law, arbitration and litigation and routinely represents shipping companies, government agencies and other maritime bodies in admiralty and maritime cases in superior courts in Nigeria. He also advises shipping companies and other maritime stakeholders on various maritime issues such as collision, charterparties, ship financing, general average, towage, piracy, carriage of goods by sea, the registration of ships in the Nigerian Ship Register and the registration of ships for cabotage trade, amongst other maritime issues. He is an article Reviewer for the Maritime Law Journal of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) and has presented papers both locally and internationally. Echefu is also a recipient of several scholarships such as the Sir William Solomon Memorial Scholarship and the Law Endowment Fund Scholarship
