Partner. His main areas of practice are domestic and international litigation, including debt recovery and insolvency proceedings, corporate and commercial law, including international commercial contracts, and employment law.


André Brunschweiler joined Lalive in 2010. Before that, he worked as a trainee-lawyer with Schellenberg Wittmer in Zurich and Geneva (2006 - 2008) and as a law clerk at the District Court of Zurich (2008). Whilst studying law, he was employed as a paralegal with von der Crone Rechtsanwälte (2003 - 2005) and as a clerk at AXA Winterthur Insurance (2000 - 2002). During 2013/14 André Brunschweiler was seconded as Of Counsel to a leading Chinese business law firm in Beijing. Whilst in China, he mainly worked on cross-border corporate and M&A matters, including in- and outbound investments. In particular, he advised Chinese state-owned and private entities on their outbound investments into Switzerland, as well as foreign, mainly European clients in relation to their business activities in China, including on the establishment and review of joint ventures and other corporate structures. Back in Switzerland, he now also focuses on commercial litigation, including shareholders' disputes, banking litigation, asset recovery and enforcement proceedings of foreign judgments and awards.

Graduated in 2006 from the University of Zurich (lic.iur.; magna cum laude). He also studied law at the University François Rabelais of Tours (France).

LALIVE is renowned for its banking litigation practice, while also covering regulatory and compliance matters, as well as debt structuring and capital market transactions, initial coin offerings and investigation matters. Dr Simone Nadelhofer advised a multinational insurance group on regulatory issues concerning a derivative transaction with a global institution, while Matthias Gstoehl is representing a wealthy individual in a loss claim against the subsidiary of a Swiss bank. Dr Daniel L Buhr, who specialises in investigations and compliance management, is another key name. André Brunschweiler made partner in January 2018.
