Jan Willem has been a lawyer since 1980. In 2008 he joined Van Traa, where he handles transport, logistics, insurance and liability law cases. Jan Willem has built a substantial practice concerned with , among other issues, liability for damages to health as a consequence of exposure to asbestos.

Jan Willem also acts as an arbiter in procedures regarding transport, logistics and liability.
