Jo is a partner in the employment team. Her practice is focused on the financial and insurance sectors and professional practices, particularly advising law firms and barristers Chambers. As a member of the firm’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime and Senior Insurance Managers Regime specialist groups she has developed a particular expertise in the interaction between employment law and regulatory law, frequently working closely with our specialist regulatory lawyers.

Jo’s work for employers encompasses both non-contentious advisory work and managing and resolving disputes. She has extensive experience successfully supporting clients through complex and high value discrimination and whistleblowing claims. She is valued by clients for her expertise in dealing with tricky employee issues involving strategic implications and sensitive reputational and regulatory concerns and ill-health. Fox Williams LLP fields 'a good team that endeavours to provide good customer service and build good relationships with its clients'. The department excels in the financial services and professional services sectors, particularly in contentious matters; it recently defended MS Amlin in a claim for constructive unfair dismissal, age discrimination and failure to inform on its recent global merger with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance; and defended a senior executive in an application for summary judgement in the High Court regarding a bonus dispute. Other work includes advising UK Payments Administration on TUPE issues and assisting Bank Leumi UK with a major restructuring including the closure of a substantial business line. The 'highly professional and experienced' Jane Mann heads up the group, which also includes the 'incredibly reliable' Joanna Chatterton and legal director David Murphy, who 'provides consistently pragmatic and timely advice in a calm and reassuring way'.
