Career

Pieter Huys is a partner and lawyer at AKD who specialises in employment law and has particular expertise in the field of law in work-related fraud cases.

Pieter has wide-ranging experience in national and international issues relating to the law governing individual dismissals, reorganisations and transfers of business ownership (including outsourcing and insourcing). His work also covers co-determination law, collective labour agreement law and non-competition and confidentiality clauses.

Pieter’s clients are leading national and international companies and organisations. He regularly assists companies on which penalties are imposed by the Inspectorate SZW (Foreign Nationals (Employment) Act [Wet arbeid vreemdelingen]). Pieter’s clients appreciate his pragmatic, tenacious approach and his eye for new opportunities. The words, ‘no, that’s not possible’ are not part of his vocabulary.

Working closely with his clients and building long-term relationships drives and inspires Pieter. It gives him the opportunity to get to know his clients properly and respond effectively to their needs.

Memberships

Pieter is a member of the Rotterdam Employment Lawyers Association (‘VRAA’) and the Netherlands Employment Lawyers Association (‘VAAN’). He is also a member of AKD’s Employee Participation Working Group, and is the leader of this group.
