Roger Harris ‘grasps technical issues well and keeps experts on their toes’, and Christopher Russell is praised for his ‘thorough preparation, attention to detail and analytical mind’. Bruce Gardiner exhibits ‘an attractive and effective cross-examination style’.
7 Bedford Row’s Simeon Maskrey QC is ‘a go-to barrister for his tactical decision-making’, and Derek Sweeting QC has ‘the ability to get to the important issues in the most complicated cases’. Recommended juniors include Simon King, whose written advice is ‘unfailingly well prepared’; Julian Matthews, who ‘constructs and deconstructs an argument with ease and charm’; and Jeremy Pendlebury, who is ‘a real fighter in court’.

At Farrar’s Building, Alan Jeffreys QC’s courtroom skills are ‘legendary’. John Leighton Williams QC ‘takes a practical view of complex issues’, and Jonathan Watt-Pringle QC has ‘a wealth of experience in this area’. Nigel Spencer Ley ‘puts his detailed knowledge of the NHS to good use’, and Rhiannon Jones is ‘committed to her clients’.
Hardwicke houses some well-respected players in the PI market, including Charles Bagot; Henry Slack, who is ‘a solid and reliable barrister’; and Jasmine Murphy, who is ‘organised and thorough’ and exhibits ‘a great deal of empathy towards claimants’.

At One Crown Office Row, Elizabeth-Anne Gumbel QC’s standard of preparation and responsiveness is ‘unmatched’. Henry Witcomb is ‘absolutely committed to his clients’, and Richard Booth is ‘a polished advocate with very good negotiation skills’. Justin Levinson is an expert in cases involving sexual abuse issues.
At 3 Hare Court James Dingemans QC’s ‘up-to-date knowledge never fails to impress’. ‘Meticulous’ new silk Howard Stevens QC ‘leaves no stone unturned’. Katherine Deal is ‘the first choice for any case requiring private international PI expertise’.
